Woman Upset After Boyfriend Sends AI Birthday Message
A Reddit user is disappointed after realizing the heartfelt birthday message from her boyfriend was written by AI.
She explained that she and her boyfriend have been dating for seven months and have been through a lot together, including the loss of her father and living alone in a new country.
On her 30th birthday, she received a message from him at midnight but, the words seemed unfamiliar, and he used expressions that didn’t sound like him.
Feeling suspicious, she ran the text through GPTZero, an AI detection tool, which confirmed that the message was 100% AI-generated.
“I’m truly at a loss for words to express how incredible you are. Your genuine nature shines through in everything you say and do. I love you just the way you are, and I feel so fortunate to have you in my life. Thank you for everything you’ve done for me. I sincerely wish you all the happiness and success in the world because you truly deserve it! Happy birthday my [redacted].”
She admitted feeling offended and sad, unsure if she should respond or confront him about it.
Netizens says she was overreacting, saying the boyfriend might have just wanted to make sure he said something meaningful. Others agreed that using AI for a personal message made it feel less genuine and lazy.
