3 Women End Their Lives in Separate Incidents
Three women ended their lives on Wednesday night in different parts of the city with reasons ranged from dowry harassment to illness and personal issues.
A 21-year-old woman, Kajal Gupta, hanged herself at her home in Udia Basti. She was married to auto driver Monu Gupta last year in March.
Her mother, Neetu, claimed Monu had been harassing Kajal for dowry. The family recently bought him a mobile phone, but he was now demanding a bike.
Kajal called her mother on Wednesday afternoon, saying she was upset over the issue. Just hours later, she was found dead. Police are investigating the matter.
In Bilkhiriya area, 28-year-old Pragati Sahu ended her life by hanging. Her husband, Monu Sahu, rushed her to Hamidia Hospital, but doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Monu told police that Pragati had been suffering from severe migraines for years and was struggling with the pain.
Aarti Kushwaha, 24, who lived alone in Itkhedi after separating from her husband, consumed poison on Wednesday. She worked at a self-help group, but her family said she had been struggling emotionally.
A young man, Srijesh Ahirwar (22) also hanged himself in his home at Siyarkala village under Nazirabad police station. While no suicide note was found, his family revealed he was upset over a failed love affair.
In Rahul Nagar, 40-year-old Rakesh Sakya also hanged himself on Wednesday night. Police did not find any suicide note, and the reason for his death remains unclear.
