The Catholic Bishop of Kontagora Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Bulus Yohanna officiated a mass wedding for 21 couples in Niger State.

The ceremony took place at St. Mark Catholic Church in Nsanji Nkoso, Magama Local Government Area of Nigeria State.

All the couples had completed their traditional marriage rites and undergone three months of counseling before the church wedding.

Bishop Yohanna explained that the ceremony was important to ensure the couples were properly married in the church’s eyes.

He further emphasized that cohabiting without a legal or church marriage was not acceptable. He also urged them to build their marriages on love and companionship, reminding them that marriage is for life.

One of the couples, Mr. and Mrs. Cyprian Uche, who had been living together for 22 years and have five children, said they were happy to finally be officially married.

Mrs. Uche added that she was now eligible to hold positions in the church’s women’s fellowship, something she couldn’t do before.

The parish priest, Rev. Fr. Francis Joshua, noted that the couples had gone through strict counseling and met all the church’s requirements before the wedding.

He praised the bishop for ensuring the couples were married properly and encouraged them to stay faithful to their vows.
