Celebrate Love the Right Way This Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is that time of the year to show love and appreciation to those who matter most.
While love is beautiful, not everyone celebrates it the right way as some go overboard trying to impress, while others feel pressured by unrealistic expectations.
The Story Behind Valentine’s Day
Many believe Valentine’s Day is named after Saint Valentine, a Roman priest who secretly performed marriages when Emperor Claudius II banned young men from marrying.
He was later caught and sentenced to death before his execution, he reportedly sent a letter to a blind girl he healed, signing it “From your Valentine.” Over time, this day became a symbol of love and affection.
Nowadays, Valentine’s Day is often filled with pressure of getting expensive gifts, grand gestures, and unrealistic expectations. Some even go into debt just to impress their partners. This is not love; it’s stress.
Instead of stressing over money, focus on meaningful ways to show love through a heartfelt note, a thoughtful gift, or quality time can mean more than a fancy dinner or an expensive gift. Love is about connection, not competition.
If you’re young, don’t let one day make you do something you’ll regret as some people throw their values away just to fit in.
Love should never make you feel uncomfortable or force you into decisions you’re not ready for.
Set your boundaries and don’t let anyone pressure you. Love should make you feel safe, valued, and respected.
