NACA Urges Nigerians to Spread Love, Not HIV on Valentine’s Day
As Nigerians prepare to celebrate Valentine’s Day, the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) has instructed everyone to focus on love and safety.
NACA’s Director General, Temitope Ilori, reminded people that love and intimacy should always come with responsibility.
She encouraged Nigerians to make smart choices and protect themselves from HIV and other sexually transmitted infections (STIs).
“HIV is still a big public health concern, but it can be prevented,” Ilori said in a statement.
She warned that risky behaviours like unprotected sex, multiple partners, and substance use can increase the chances of getting infected.
She also stressed the importance of knowing one’s status, saying, “Regular HIV testing should be part of your healthcare routine.”
Ilori assured that free HIV tests are available at all government hospitals and advised Nigerians to celebrate love by making safe and healthy decisions.
“This Valentine’s Day, show love not just to others, but to yourself by making informed choices. Get tested and protect your health” she said.
