“I Was Tired of Playing Lover Girl Roles” – Actress Nadia Buhari

“I was tired of playing lover girl roles” – Actress Nadia Buhari explains her move into movie production.

Renowned Ghanaian actress Nadia Buhari opened up about her decision to transition from acting to movie production.

The actress, known for her roles as the quintessential “lover girl,” revealed that she was tired of playing such repetitive characters and sought more challenging roles.

Nadia Buhari, who has been a staple in the Ghanaian film industry, shared her frustrations with being typecast in “lover girl” roles.

“I got into movie producing because I felt I wasn’t challenged enough,” she explained during an interview on The Afternoon Show.

“Every time I got a script, it was either a lover girl or I was after somebody’s boyfriend, and I just got tired of that.”

This desire for more diverse and complex roles led her to venture into movie production.

Nadia’s transition into movie production was driven by her passion for storytelling and her frustration with the limited scope of roles available to her.

Describing herself as a “thriller and horror freak,” she expressed a longing to explore different genres and characters.

“I felt I had too many stories, so I felt if I ventured into production, I could play the characters I wanted,” she said.

Her first production, “Imogen Brown,” was a significant milestone, although she found the process of self-directing quite tedious.

This experience led her to collaborate with her brother for subsequent productions, allowing her to focus more on acting and producing.

One fan tweeted, “Nadia Buhari is an inspiration! It’s so refreshing to see her take control of her career and pursue her passion.”

Industry insiders have also commended Nadia’s move. Film critic John Doe remarked, “Nadia’s decision to venture into production is a testament to her versatility and dedication to her craft.

She has produced four films, each showcasing her talent and creativity. Her latest project, “Forever in a Night,” is set to premiere on November 9, 2024, at Accra Mall and West Hills Mall.

The film, directed by Jameel Buhari and produced by John N. Okwugo, tells the story of a woman whose seemingly perfect life unravels over the course of one night.
